Two Welsh housing associations merge to form 14,000-home Hedyn

Newport City Homes and Melin complete amalgamation

Two housing association in Wales have completed their planned merger to form a new housing association.

Newport City Homes, which manages around 10,000 homes, and Melin Homes, which is smaller with around 4,000 properties, have merged to form a new housing association called Hedyn. Hedyn is the Welsh word for ‘seed’.

In a statement, the new organisation said joining the organisations together would enable it to use it s expertise, scale and local knowledge to “deliver excellent customer services.”
