First annual survey of planning capacity reflects concern about town halls’ capacity to cope with planning reforms
Nine in 10 planning departments are facing difficulty in recruiting staff, according to research by the Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).
The survey, the first by the department looking at planning capacity and skills in local authorities, also highlighted widespread problems with retention and skills gaps and suggested the issues would have a negative impact on preparation for planning reform.
