Martin Armstrong will leave the 93,000-home housing association next summer
The chief executive of one of the largest developing housing associations in the United Kingdom has announced he is stepping down.
Martin Armstrong will leave Glasgow-based Wheatley Group next summer after 12 years at the helm.
Armstrong said: “It has been an amazing journey. I am proud of the dedication, commitment and passion of the staff, board and committee members - past and present - who have worked hard to make Wheatley such a fantastic force for good in Scotland.”
Armstrong oversaw the formation of Wheatley Group in 2011, bringing together several different organisations, including Glasgow Housing Association.
The group, which owns or manages 93,800 homes and has a turnover of £357m, completed 802 new homes last year, including 601 for social rent, 197 for mid-market rent and four for shared equity. It also started work on a further 735 homes.
It says it built 5,000 homes in total between 2015 and 2020.
The group also owns a portfolio of 1,180 private rented homes through its Lowther Homes subsidiary.
