Peter Gore, new chief executive of Weston Homes

Gore joined Weston Homes in 2021 from Taylor Wimpey, where he had worked for three years as managing director.

Prior to this, he worked in senior delivery and construction director roles at Barratt Homes and Mount Anvil.

Weston said that Gore had “added fantastic value and insight” to the business over the last three years. He would be “an excellent and highly able CEO”, he added.

The chief executive role at Weston has been dormant for a number of years, with the last holder being director Jim Wood.

A spokesperson for Weston said Gore had been given the role because of his strong performance as operations director.

Gore said: “Despite an extremely challenging economic climate, with squeezed margins, rising build costs, and a constrained mortgage market, the business continues to make headway and we look forward to launching a series of significant new residential development schemes with others in the pipeline.”

Earlier this year, the business announced that it would develop five residential schemes during 2024, providing almost 900 additional homes across London and the South-east.

These projects, in Tayfen Court in Bury St Edmunds, Brentwood Central, Town Quay and Jasper Wharf, both in Barking, and Bracknell Beeches in Bracknell, are now all underway.

Three further projects, all in Essex, have also already achieved planning this year, offering another 700 homes to its pipeline.

However, the housebuilder was forced to abandon a scheme in Norwich this year after eight years of working on it, citing national planning interventions, changes to nutrient neutrality rules and the impact of building safety reforms.

In the aftermath, Weston called for a full review of the burden of regulations on housebuilders.

Over the latest operating year Weston Homes achieved 872 legal completions.
