Blackmoorfoot Road scheme will also include a care home
Vistry Group and Miller Homes have jointly acquired a site that has planning permission for 700 homes in Huddersfield.
The two housebuilders plan to build a mixed-tenure scheme on brownfield land at Blackmoorfoot Road.
Under the plans, Vistry will build 469 homes, with half for affordable or private rent, while Miller Homes will build 231 homes for open market sale.
The development will also include a care home and convenience store, a park and play areas.
Andrew Poyner, managing director of Vistry West Yorkshire, said: “This major site will deliver many hundreds of new, high quality, mixed-tenure homes, helping to support the council’s local housing needs and breathing new life into this vacant, brownfield site.
“Working together with Miller Homes we can provide greater housing choices for local people, creating a new neighbourhood featuring a range of green spaces and areas of outdoor play.”

Both housebuilders have been in the headlines in recent weeks.
Vistry Group in December issued its third profit warning in as many months, while Miller last month announced it has agreed a deal to buy £371m-turnover St Modwen.
