Pair to build 237 homes in Runcorn

Halifax-based housing association Together Housing has signed a deal with Galliford Try Partnerships to build more than 200 homes in the north-west of England.

Plans for the scheme in Sandymoor, Runcorn, have been submitted to the local council.

The joint venture will see the pair build 237 units, featuring a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes, all for open market sale.

As well as the homes, an extra-care development featuring 100 flats will be built, to be owned by Halton Housing, a Widnes-based housing association.

Galliford Try Partnerships’ chief executive Stephen Teagle said he hoped the Runcorn scheme with Together Housing would be the start of a long-term tie-up between the pair.

“Strong partnerships have been at the heart of the Sandymoor proposals from day one and we look forward to continuing to work collaboratively to create a vibrant, sustainable place to live.

“The development will provide new homes for first-time buyers, growing families and older people, extending the current housing offer within the area,” he added.

Galliford Try signed the joint venture agreement with Together Housing after sealing a deal with Homes England, the government’s housing delivery agency, to develop the land for housing.

Kevin Ruth, deputy chief executive at Together Housing Group said: “We are delighted to be delivering new homes for sale in Sandymoor through this exciting joint venture with Galliford Try Partnerships.

“It is important for us to work with organisations that share our vision and aspiration to deliver quality homes, offering a variety of housing options to local communities.”

Together Housing manages more than 36,000 properties in the north of England. It has a number of partnership arrangements in place with local authorities and local building firms to build new homes in the region.
