Work set to begin in autumn 2020 on £650m new community outside Stirling
Scottish housebuilder Springfield Properties has received planning permission to build a village containing 3,042 homes at Durieshill, near Stirling.
The project, conditional on reaching a planning gain agreement with Stirling council, is the fourth village scheme that Springfield has had approved, and the largest so far.
The housebuilder said the scheme, set on a 593-acre site, will have a development value of £650m and take 20 years to complete. In addition to homes, Springfield plans to build a primary school, secondary school and library, a 30-unit care facility for the elderly and commercial properties.
Work on the site should start in the autumn with a view to the first homeowners moving in during 2022.
Innes Smith, chief executive of Springfield Properties, said he was delighted to have received approval for the scheme. He added: “We are proud of the progress that we have achieved with our village developments and we will now work diligently to ensure everything is in place to commence work on site at Durieshill by late autumn 2020.”
