AIM-listed housebuilder says city is next step in its growth path
Long-term plans by Springfield Properties to build 3,000 homes in the north of Scotland have taken another step forward after the housebuilder bought a 14-acre site near Inverness.
The Elgin-based AIM-listed firm plans to build around 90 homes on the site at Easterfield Farm, the first of the group’s schemes in the city.
Its proposed 3,000 homes are being mooted for Inverness and the surrounding area, as well as smaller towns and villages in the region including Drumnadrochit (pictured), Ardersier, Dornoch and Beauly.
Innes Smith, Springfield’s chief executive, said the Easterfield development would include a mix of private and affordable homes.
“In recent years, we’ve developed a stronger presence in Glasgow and Edinburgh, and we are already highly active in Dundee and Perth.
“Now we are in a position to include Inverness in our portfolio, which is the next step for our growth,” he added.
Last year Springfield reported pre-tax profit of £10m on turnover of £141m and completed 770 homes.
