Developer Renaker has gained planning permission for a 518-flat, 41-storey tower in Salford.

The block is part of a regeneration scheme for an area called Greengate, for which a hybrid masterplan was approved in March 2020 to build between 1,407 and 1,521 homes.

A 559-home, 50-storey tower block has already been permitted in the area and construction on that tower, Cortland, is well under way. Phase two, a 42-storey tower called Bankside, has also been given permission, and is currently being constructed.

Renaker will demolish existing buildings on land north of Queen Street and east of Collier Street to build the new tower block on around 0.6ha of land.

The new block will be set on a three- to four-storey podium building, and will include 1,065 sq m of commercial floorspace across five separate units.

Homes will be from one to three-bedroom apartments, with a penthouse floor on level 40 with six three-bedroom flats.

It is believed Renaker wants to start work on the tower in February next year.
