Former housing minister appointed to building safety and local government brief
Lee Rowley has been named as minister for building safety and local government.
Rowley, who served as housing minister in the shortlived Truss government, wasre-appointed as a junior minister at the Department for Levelling Up Housing and Communities last month but there has been confusion over his exact responsibilites.
DLUHC has now confirmed Rowley will focus on building safety,including remediation and regulation regimes and local government. Lucy Frazer was on Monday announced as the new housing minister, Dehenna Davison is minister for levelling up (see box below).
Meanwhile he Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has confirmed Jackie Doyle-Price is no longer construction minister and has returned to the backbenches. A new construction minister has yet to be announced.
Jackie Doyle-Price has left the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy after less than two months in her role as construction minister.
BEIS confirmed she had returned to the backbenches after she was recently removed from the list of ministers on the department’s website.
