Latest phase of the Volume Works project planned to open in time for the 2025/26 academic year
The final phase of a new student accommodation building in Birmingham City Centre has been submitted to planners.
Birmingham-based developer Volume Property has proposed a further 220-bed development to its Volume Works project.
If approved, this will be the final phase of the already approved 156-bed building.
The first phase of Volume Works was completed in 2021 and planning permission has already been granted for the second phase.
Birmingham is home to an estimated 80,000 students with several universities to choose from, including the University of Birmingham, Birmingham City University and Aston University.
Anthony Laville, CEO of Volume Property, said the development was pioneering new ways of enhancing the student experience. “The student accommodation sector is changing rapidly, and today’s students expect a better level of product and service than ever before,” he said.
Hortus Investments has joined Volume Property to deliver on the wider Volume Works project. Hortus Investments was founded in 2019 by the Horton family, active in property throughout the Midlands.
The third phase of Volume Works will include high-spec amenities for students, including storage space, high-speed internet and en-suite bathrooms.
The communal areas will offer social spaces, study areas, a gym, and outdoor space. There will also be room for 48 bike storage spaces.
The planning application is currently under review by the local council.
Volume Property hopes that construction will begin later this year with its scheduled completion in time for the start of the 2025/26 academic year.
