Andrew Usher has been promoted from development director to managing director for developments
Places for People (PfP) has appointed Andrew Usher as its group managing director for developments.
Usher was previously the 245,000-home housing association group’s development director, which he started in May 2023 when he joined the housing association from Vistry-owned Countryside Partnerships.
Usher had worked at Countryside Partnerships for more than 18 years, where he most recently served as managing director for their South London region.
In his new role, Usher will oversee the PfP developments team, which it says has the largest development pipeline in the social housing sector.
PfP will deliver homes at 8,500-home Gilston Park Estate in Hertfordshire, as well as at Camden Film Quarter in Kentish Town.
Scott Black, group chief operating officer at PfP, said: “I’m delighted that Andrew has been appointed as our new group managing director for developments.
“He has made a significant contribution since joining us and now his expertise and commitment to excellence will continue to drive us forward to create more thriving communities.”

Black added that “PfP has a major role to play in tackling our national housebuilding crisis”.
“We are a partner in waiting for our government, we’re ready to work with them and anyone else to address the challenge we’re facing. And with Andrew at the helm, I know we can lead the charge,” he said.
Usher said that it was “a privilege” to be appointed to the role. He continued: “Given the breadth of our organisation, we see first-hand the terrible impact the housing crisis is having across the UK.
“We are well placed to be a key part of the solution to this, and I’m fired up to be leading a team of passionate professionals who know we have an important role to play.
We have bold ambitions, and I am eager to build on the progress already made to deliver on our development vision and our company’s purpose.”
