Julian Roper promoted from regional managing director

Persimmon Homes has promoted the managing director of its South West division to be chair for the region.

Julian Roper had been in the regional managing director role since 2020.

He takes over as chairman of the regional from Liam Scott, who has been promoted to deputy UK managing director of Charles Church.

Roper began his career as an apprentice carpenter with Beazer Homes before becoming a contracts manager and later joining Persimmon, where he served for a time as head of construction and construction director for the Wessex region. 

Roper said: “I am delighted that I’ll soon be taking on the role of Chair of the South West division, and I look forward to working with all the businesses in the region so the company can leave a positive and lasting legacy at each and every one of our sites.

“I am so thankful to the Persimmon team for placing their faith in me with this role and I’m eager to apply my experience to drive further growth and operational excellence for the division. I am confident that together, we will continue to achieve new heights.

In its results for the year to 31 December, Persimmon reported pre-tax profit of £351.8m, less than half the £730.7m posted the previous year. Turnover fell 26%, to £2.8bn from £3.8bn over the same period.
