Housing association partnering Berkeley Homes on 26-acre development
Peabody has been named as the affordable housing partner for more than 1,500 affordable homes on an east London scheme being jointly developed by Berkeley, Newham council and the GLA.
The mixed-use development (pictured) on a former Parcelforce site in West Ham will feature more than 3,800 new homes, a 1,000-pupil secondary school, retail and community facilities and green space which will be open to the public.
The housing association will run around 1,520 homes on the Patel Taylor-designed scheme, providing 40% on-site affordable housing, split between homes for social rent and shared ownership.
The 26.2-acre Stephenson Street project received planning permission in August last year.
Phase one of the job will see 400 homes for sale, plus 200 affordable and 400 private-rent homes become available in the first quarter of 2021.
Berkeley will also be building two new footbridges and revamping a road bridge on the development, which is expected to be completed in early 2024.
