Housing association looking to build at least 600 homes on south-east London brownfield site
Peabody is searching for a contractor to build more than 600 homes on a 2.3-acre site in south-east London.
In an OJEU notice, the housing association said it wanted to appoint a company to deliver the homes as part of a contract worth between £80m and £100m.
Peabody wants to completely redevelop the brownfield site, which formerly hosted a paper factory, located between Borough and Elephant and Castle tube stations.
Peabody, which is one of London’s largest housing associations, said it wanted to deliver a minimum of 35% affordable housing, including a minimum of 200 homes split between 70% affordable rented homes and 30% shared ownership.
Contractors looking to work with Peabody on the scheme, which is expected to take around six years to complete, have until 26 January to register their interest.
Last month, Peabody was named affordable housing partner for more than 1,500 properties on an east London scheme being jointly developed by Berkeley, Newham council and the Greater London Authority.
The mixed-use development on a former Parcelforce site in West Ham will include a total of more than 3,800 homes.
