Paul Kitson joins the London council from Birmingham City Council
A former Homes England director has been appointed to a senior housing role by an East London council.
Paul Kitson, who spent a decade at Homes England as a regional director, will take up a position as corporate director of inclusive economy, housing and culture at Newham Council.
Kitson will join Newham in April, having been strategic director of place, prosperity and sustainability at Birmingham City Council for the past two years.
During the 10 years he spent at Homes England, Kitson led the garden towns and villages programme in the South East.
Kitson said: “Newham has many of the most exciting regeneration and development plans in London, if not the country.”

He added: “I cannot wait to work with the Mayor, the chief executive and the communities of Newham to bring those plans to life and to build on the already strong work that has taken place.”
In October, Newham Council won a landmark court case against Chaplair Limited for failing to remove flammable cladding from a building in Forest Gate.
