Fresh plans submitted by 7N followed public consultation and planning consent

Architect 7N has submitted new proposals for the Fountainbridge housing development in Edinburgh which will now see affordable homes built across the scheme.

7N, which is also based in the Scottish capital, said its plans had been rejigged following consultations with local people and after Edinburgh City council said they wanted affordable mid-market and market rented homes across that part of the near-5ha site that is being developed for residential.

Planning was given to the Fountainbridge scheme three years ago, and 7N said the revised plot aimed to deliver 32 apartments for mid-market rent and 32 apartments for open market rent, along with new community space.

The city council, together with its development company EDI, plans to build 400 homes on the site, which sits next to a stretch of the Union Canal in the Haymarket district of the city.

Edinburgh has said it wanted to build 20,000 affordable homes across the city by 2028.

7N previously designed the revamp of a former bus depot on Western Avenue to the west of Edinburgh, which produced 253 affordable homes and eight small business units integrated across four buildings.
