Local authority grants planning to new Premier Inn hotel
Camden council has approved a mixed-used scheme in the north London borough which will see three apartments for social rent built as part of a new hotel development.
Designed by Morris & Company for developer Demar Holdings, the 80-room hotel (top picture) will be built halfway up Camden High Street and operated by Premier Inn.
The three flats that form part of the four and five-storey scheme will have two bedrooms each.
The flats will have their own private entrance, cycle store and bin refuse store.
Although a main contractor has yet to be named, construction work is expected to start in May 2020 and completion is likely to be in December next year.
The hotel will be built on the site of a Sports Direct shop (pictured below), formerly a branch of Woolworths, which will be demolished to make way for the development.
There will be a new retail unit on the building’s ground floor.
