Three non-exec roles filled as association giant pursues 32,000-home pipeline
L&Q has announced the appointment of three non-executive directors.
The 105,000-home housing association has appointed Nigel Hopkins to its group board. Hopkins will join the board in September and then also take over as chair of its audit and risk committee when Mike More leaves in December.
Hopkins also chairs the audit committee at fellow housing association giant Places for People, as well as chairing provider MHS Homes and skills provider Instructus. He previously worked as finance director at housing charity Abbeyfield and at Remploy, which provides employment opportunities for people disabilities.
L&Q also announced that Raj Kambo, formerly chief risk officer at Citibank UK will join the audit and risk committee, while chartered surveyor James Rolton will join the development committee. Rolton is currently investment director at British Land.
Aubrey Adams, group chair of L&Q said: “I am delighted to welcome James, Raj and Nigel to L&Q, where their varied experience and expertise will be vital in helping us deliver our ambitious corporate objectives over the coming years.”
L&Q recently revealed it completed 4,200 homes in 2021/22, a record year for any housing association. It expects to top this in 2022/23 before levelling off to around 3,000 a year from 2023/24 onwards.

The association had initially been planning to build 10,000 homes a year over 10 years but has scaled this back because of the need to divert money into improving existing housing stock.
