Legal & General Capital’s appointment Vanisha Thakrar has 13 years of real estate investment experience
Legal & General Capital has named Vanisha Thakrar as its new head of investment for housing.
Thakrar has 13 years of experience in real estate investment and comes to Legal & General Capital, the Legal & General Group’s alternative asset platform, from Harrison Street Real Estate Capital.
In that previous firm, the new L&G appointment was director of European transactions, where she was responsible for sourcing, underwriting and executing transactions in the student housing and residential sectors.
She has also worked at Macquarie Group and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, where she worked on establishing new joint ventures, underwriting new investments and managing the business’ existing investments.
LGC has said the appointment signals the next stage in its growth build its housing investment portfolio, which includes build-to-sell, built-to-rent, affordable housing, later living and modular homes.

Thakrar said: “I look forward to working with the housing leadership team to create further opportunities to evolve and expand LGC’s multi-tenure housing platform to deliver the homes society needs.”
In her new role Thakrar will support the growth of LGC’s multi-tenure housing platform internationally as well as in the UK.
She will also be responsible for the portfolio management of a number of LGC’s existing investments and lead on bringing in new business opportunities.
