Merseyside council has drawn up plan for scheme being pursued by Bellway, Miller and Redrow
A Merseyside council has approved a masterplan for a 1,500-home urban extension being brought forward by a consortium of landowners and housebuilders including Bellway, Miller and Redrow.
Knowsley council approved the East of Halewood masterplan, drawn up by consultants on behalf of the council itself, late last week. The site is the second largest of ten sustainable urban extensions identified by the council in its 2016 local plan.
The masterplan is designed to tie future developers into the council’s vision for the area, as it will become a “material planning consideration” against which future planning applications will be judged.
The masterplan was drawn up by consultants Optimised Environments and WSP, in consultation with landowners and developers with an interest in the site.
According to inward investment agency Invest Knowsley, housebuilder Bellway, Miller and Redrow are all involved in bringing the scheme forward with landowners. The 80 hectare site (pictured) is bisected by the Liverpool Manchester rail line, and the masterplan envisages focused the development around the retention of an area of woodland, Finch Woods, at the heart of it.
