Barnsley deal will run for 10 years
Wates has nabbed a housing repair and maintenance contract from Kier for work in South Yorkshire.
Barnsley council has awarded Wates’ Living Space a 10-year deal worth £100m to carry out work on thousands of properties in the area.
Kier had been carrying out the work since 2009 alongside local firm Berneslai Homes, the council’s housing company responsible for managing 18,500 homes on its behalf.
Wates will be asked to carry out planned maintenance, gas servicing and electrical work.
The deal starts at the beginning of next month.
