Completion of the Telford development is expected in 2023
The final phase of the 1,300-home Lightmoor Village development in Telford is set to get under way after the appointment of a contractor to build the remaining homes.
The village scheme, a joint venture between Homes England and housing association Bourneville Village Trust (BVT), began construction in 2005.
The 300 homes that form the final phase of residential will be built by Cannock-based Jessup Brothers and be a mix of private and affordable rented and private sale properties managed by the BVT.
Some 638 homes have already been built on the 178-acre site, with a further 99 now under construction.
Completion of the Lightmoor Village development is expected in 2023.
The village already features a primary school, shops, a doctor’s surgery, a community centre and 54 acres of open space.
Jessup land manger Martin Rogers said his firm was working to secure reserved matters for the 300 homes.
And Pete Richmond, chief executive of BVT, said Lightmoor was one of Telford’s most significant housing developments of the last decade.
“This latest phase isn’t just a key milestone in the wider development but will provide 300 new homes for social rent, private and sale, helping to create an inclusive and mixed community that meets local housing need,” Richmond added.
