Well-known executive and board member to stand down to focus on settling into new home with family
A well-known housing association executive and board member is standing down from his role at Sovereign Network Group (SNG) at the end of next month.
Jamie Ratcliff, who worked at the Greater London Authority and the Homes & Communities Agency and held several board positions throughout his career, announced his departure in a post on the social media platform LinkedIn.
Ratcliff, chief communities and sustainability officer at SNG, wrote “I’m not yet completely sure what comes next and open to interesting conversations so do get in touch.
“I am intending to put some sustained effort in April into helping my family (and dog!) settle into our new home in Bristol as well as hopefully a number of football and rugby matches.”
He added: “I am proud of a great number of things that I have supported my colleagues to achieve in that time. I hope that these – including the establishment of the SNG Community Foundation and SNG’s first environmental sustainability strategy – will have lasting positive impact”
“I will miss so many brilliant, committed and passionate colleagues right across SNG. I am confident they can achieve great things by working together and listening to our customers. I will continue to cheer them on and celebrate their successes from afar.”
Ratcliff’s housing career has spanned around 18 years. He has been in his current role as chief communities and sustainability officer at SNG since October 2023.
Before that he held a number of different executive roles at SNG predecessor organisation Network Homes from 2019 to 2023.
He spent more than seven years at City Hall in London, including six as assistant director of housing, with responsibility for implementing the housing policies of first Boris Johnson and then Sadiq Khan.

Ratcliff worked for three years at the Homes & Communities Agency (a forerunner of Homes England) as head of intermediate markets and head of housing supply. He also worked as a housing strategy and enabling manager at Norwich City Council.
Ratcliff has served on the board of Watford Community Homes and currently holds a non-executive role at Tower Hamlets Community Housing.
Mark Washer, group chief executive at SNG said Ratcliff “played a key role” in the merger of Network and Sovereign in 2023.
Washer said: “Jamie has been a valued colleague as chief communities & sustainability officer and held wide-ranging executive responsibilities previously at Network Homes.
“I particularly appreciate his contribution to SNG’s integration programme and the establishment of the SNG Community Foundation. I wish him all the best for the future.”
