Local authority plans to build nearly 100 homes on site of an old school
Isle of Wight council has put out a call for contractors to bid to develop a large mixed-use scheme in Sandown.
The local authority is looking for a partner to build the £21m development on the site of the former Sandham middle school in Sandown, on the eastern side of the island.
According to an OJEU notice published this week, the proposal is for a contractor to help deliver extra-care, independent and assisted-living housing, with additional bungalow properties.
The council is looking for at least 75 extra-care flats and 12 bungalows to be built and said it was “seeking a development partner who can bring expertise in the development, funding and operation of such a scheme”.
The contract is likely to last three years and prospective tenderers have until 9 October to express their interest.
