Industry calls on government to get EU deal done as data reveals new work plummets

New construction work experienced its sharpest drop in a decade last month, prompting industry figures to urge the government to end the current political uncertainty and strike a deal with the EU.

IHS Markit’s latest UK Construction PMI data also reported new orders falling every month since April this year, with a continued downturn in commercial work being fuelled by clients’ reluctance to commit to schemes amid Brexit uncertainty.
