Countryside Properties to build first phase of 460 homes on site near Burgess Hill, West Sussex
Extra funding from Homes England will help speed up the delivery of a development of new homes at the Northern Arc in Burgess Hill, West Sussex.
The agency is ploughing a further £63m from the government’s £1.3bn Land Assembly Fund into infrastructure work on the scheme, which will see 460 homes built by Countryside Properties on the Freeks Farm area of the site.
Eventually 3,500 homes will be built across the development.
The extra money follows £99m paid last year to cover initial land purchases and options.
The 460 homes will be a mix of flats and one- to four-bedroom houses, 30% of which will be affordable.
One-fifth of the affordable homes will be for social rent, with 10% for intermediate rent.
Work is expected to start in March next year, with the homes being completed from December 2020.
Stephen Kinsella, Homes England’s executive land director, said the latest funding boost, alongside the appointment of Countryside, represented further great progress for the Northern Arc.
“We can now make move quickly towards starting on site and constructing quality new homes and facilities for the local community,” Kinsella added.
