£12.5m scheme will deliver affordable homes at new development in Aberdeenshire

Hillcrest Housing Association has kicked off work on 91 affordable homes at the Mackie Village development near Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire.

The £12.5m contract will see FMR Construction, part of the FM Group, deliver the housing for the bespoke village, which forms part of the 1,600-acre Ury Estate.

The development, approved by the local council in January this year, includes another 200-plus homes which will fund the restoration of Ury House and the construction of a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course.

Elsewhere in Scotland Hillcrest is currently building a 80-homes scheme in Dundee (pictured above), comprising 58 social rent and 22 mid-market rent properties, ranging from one, two and three bedroom apartments to three, four and five-bedroom houses.

That project is expected to complete in December next year.

The housing association owns and manages 6,000 homes across Dundee, Edinburgh, Angus, Perthshire and Fife.

Speaking about the Stonehaven scheme, the housing association’s first development in Aberdeenshire, Angela Linton, Hillcrest’s chief executive, said her organisation “appreciates the support from Aberdeenshire Council and our funders, the Scottish government, in helping to bring this project to fruition”.
