Firm will design and build phase one of Grange Farm revamp
Higgins Construction has been awarded a design and build contract to deliver the first phase of regenerating the Grange farm estate in south Harrow.
The £22.5m deal will include the demolition of a number of blocks on the estate, which was built in the 1960s, and the construction of 68 new council homes and 21 share ownership properties.
Harrow Council wants to redevelop the 50-year-old estate, which features nearly 300 social and prefabricated homes in three three-storey clusters.
They will be replaced by 574 new homes, of which half will be deemed “affordable”. The redevelopment will also feature a new community centre, plus new public space and a new civic square.
The Grange Farm estate masterplan was designed by Hawkins\Brown architects.
