Castleton Works will comprise three towers of 18, 14 and nine storeys

Approval of the proposals for Castleton Works by applicant UCR Leeds are contingent on a number of conditions set by the council.

These included design changes to one of the buildings and an increase in affordable housing and green space.

The updated version of the build-to-rent project is comprised of 5% affordable housing (19 units), up from the original proposal of 1.8% (7 units).

It will also adapt one of the towers to give greater prominence to adjacent heritage buildings and remove the originally proposed padel court to free up public realm space.

Located at Wellington Road and Armley Road on a disused car park and designed by architect Woods Bagot, the three towers will be nine, 14 and 18 storeys tall and will include 199 one-bed, 139 two-bed and 46 three-bed apartments.

Residential developer Solaris Real Estate and Yorkshire-based consultancy ID Planning are also on the project team for the car-free urban neighbourhood.
