Newham Yards scheme is housing developer’s latest of a series in the capital
Galliard Homes is set to build a luxury residential scheme in Bermondsey, south London, after Southwark council gave the go-ahead for the Newhams Yard development near Tower Bridge.
The housebuilder is teaming up with Acorn Property to deliver 86 apartments, a 143-residence aparthotel, retail and commercial space, a gym and a cafe, as part of a redevelopment of three existing buildings at 151 to 157 Tower Bridge Road.
The first homes are expected to be completed in the second quarter of next year.
The £86m project, designed by DLA Architecture, replaces an earlier scheme designed by Arney Fender Katsalidis that was being developed by Starwood Capital Group and First Base, which did not go ahead.
The new plan will see the remodelling of 151 Tower Bridge Road as well as the installation of balconies, changes to elevations and a series of minor alterations to increase the height of the buildings to 34m.
The Newham Yards development will accommodate studio flats and a range of one- to three-bedroom apartments.
Galliard Homes recently teamed up with Acorn Property on the Trilogy scheme, the site of a former court building and warehouse in Borough, south London, which features flats going for nearly £2m.
