Mike Maxwell among quartet of executives joining later-living developer
Legal & General’s newly created retirement homes business, Guild Living, has appointed a former Lovell Partnerships director as part of moves to ramp up its executive team.
Mike Maxwell becomes Guild Living’s construction director, joining from Lovell where he had been the contractor’s regional operations director.
Maxwell’s appointment is part of a drive by the L&G retirement homes operation to grow from 10 staff to 50 by the end of the year.
Three other senior appointments are Chris Bamford, who becomes Guild Living’s care operations director, with a brief to develop the group’s wellbeing strategy, plus Patrick Heesen, formerly of Marriott International, who takes on the marketing director role, and new sales director Alexander Spencer.
L&G announced the launch of Guild Living last month with a view to building communities in urban areas for the over-65s. It said it planned to build 3,000 homes over the next five years.
The insurance giant already has a retirement operation, Inspired Villages Group, established in 2017, that builds developments for older people.
Speaking about the latest appointments, Guild Living’s chief executive Michael Eggington said the new arrivals would help with the operation’s plan to deliver a “new way to age”.
“Chris, Mike, Patrick and Alexander are exemplary of the top talent we have selected and we continue to seek outstanding individuals to drive our programme across the UK,” he added.
