Enfield council has kicked off its search for development partners to build the initial phases of strategic infrastructure around its 10,000-home £6bn scheme at Meridian Water.

Last month the council announced it had received expressions of interest from more than a dozen contractors looking to build the second phase of homes – about 250 affordable units – being built on the site.

Enfield had also named Galliford Try Partnerships as its development partner to build 725 homes on the first phase of the scheme.

Successful bidders for the infrastructure works will deliver strategic roadworks, junctions, bridges, parks, cycle lanes and heating delivery systems.

Enfield council leader Nesil Caliskan said the infrastructure works would underpin the delivery of the entire scheme.

“The procurement of a partner or partners to deliver this work demonstrates once again that Enfield council is making Meridian Water a reality and the public sector is ready, willing and able to deliver successful large-scale construction projects in a way that truly benefits residents,” Caliskan added.
