The council is working with Galliford Try on the first phase of 910 homes, to be built by 2025.
Of these homes 226 will be affordable and 230 – a quarter – will be for council tenants.
Enfield is delivering the £6bn 10,000 homes development over the next 20 years.
Nesil Caliskan, Enfield council’s leader, said the delivery of so much affordable and social housing on the first phase of the scheme “demonstrates beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are putting into practice our political commitment”.
Enfield announced last year it would be taking over the reins of the Meridian scheme and in April it appointed Galliford Try to build the first tranche of new homes.
