Croydon council had raised issues around level of affordable housing offered on the project
Croydon council has finally approved a new mixed-use scheme in the centre of the town after developers agreed to address affordable housing concerns.
Designed by Maccreanor Lavington for Regent Land & Development, the Beamhouse Yard scheme will see 60 homes built along the development in Surrey Street, ranging from one to three bedrooms.
Nearly one-third of the homes will now be affordable, allocated on a tenure-blind basis.
Croydon’s planning committee had deferred the scheme in August last year in order to sort out the amount of affordable housing available.
The development will also include an arts, community and music venue, commercial units and a cafe.
A starting date for construction of the development has yet to be announced.
