Scheme will be built near Southampton

Crest Nicholson has launched a £27.4m development in the medieval market town of Bishop’s Waltham in Hampshire.

Tangier Gardens, which consists of 38 three and four bedroom houses, is being marketed with homes ready to move into by October this year.

The project team for the scheme near Southampton includes architect Omega Partnership, engineer Ardent Consulting, landscape architect Allen Pyke and transport consultant WYG.

The town, situated on the edge of the South Downs National Park, includes an off-license established in 1617 and the grade II-listed ruins of the 13th century Bishop’s Waltham Palace.

Crest Nicholson reported in its interim results last month that it had delayed plans to open a Southern Counties division and cut 130 jobs.

The firm had already recruited a leadership team for the new business but had been forced to mothball the plans and redistribute sites among existing divisions after its pre-tax profit nosedived by 93% to just £4m in the six months to the end of April.
