Planning granted for second phase of Fresh Wharf scheme in joint venture with Genesis
A joint venture between housebuilder Countryside and social landlord Genesis has won planning permission for 379 homes in Barking, east London.
The permission is for the second phase of the 900-home Fresh Wharf scheme on the River Roding near Barking town centre. Construction of the £346m project began in spring 2018, with the first homes of the 532-home initial phase due to be completed this summer.
The second phase, designed by Grid Architects, will include a mix of one to three-bedroom apartments across five buildings and three-bedroom townhouses for both sale and rent.
As well as homes, the scheme will deliver a public park, a riverside walkway and 7,500 sq ft of commercial space on a 10-acre former industrial site.
