According to tender documents published today, the council wants to engage with prospective development partners for the £250m scheme, which it says is the largest development site in the city.

The project, which received outline approval at a committee meeting last October, is designed to turn a 49ha site on the city’s southern edge into a residential community with 4,515m2 of office space, an expanded academy school and a sports pavilion.

The council’s tender said it was looking for a long-term development partner to work with it over the lifecycle of the development. It said: “The role of the developer will be to lead on the strategic infrastructure required for the scheme, in parallel with phased housing delivery.”

It has invited potential applicants to an open day to view details of the opportunity, prior to launching a full procurement in May.

The scheme, which is next to the almost-complete Hartcliffe campus project, has caused controversy in the city, in part due to the need to re-locate an existing rugby club and scout hut.
