Quarterly year-on-year shows growth in energy performance certificates lodged
Completions of new homes grew 2.2% year-on-year in the second quarter of the financial year, official data that records new energy performance certificates has suggested.
The official figures published today show that 63,509 domestic energy performance certificates (EPC) were lodged for new dwellings in July to September this year across England and Wales, up from the 62,088 recorded for the same period last year.
However, EPCs for new buildings fell slightly in the year to 30 September compared to the previous year.
The data shows 254,566 EPCS for new homes were lodged in the 12 months to 30 September this year, down from 257,768 the previous year.

The figures on EPCs are seen as a reliable proxy measure for housing completions because they have to be lodged whenever a new dwelling is finished.
