Clarion housing association has appointed David Avery as its new group chair.

Avery (pictured) has been a member of the group board since Clarion was formed through the merger of Circle Housing and Affinity Sutton in 2016.

He is also currently chair of the Clarion housing association board.

Replacing Neil Goulden, who has chaired the group board for nearly a decade, Avery will take up his new role next month.

Clarion’s chief executive, Clare Miller, described Avery as “a passionate advocate” for the housing association and social housing in general.

“His appointment will provide valuable continuity and momentum, as David has served as a board member since the Clarion journey began, helping to steer it through change and transition,” she added.

Clarion will recruit a replacement for chair of the housing association board once Avery starts his new role, as well as fill two group board member vacancies whose terms come to an end.
