L&G-owned housebuilder to develop former GSK site
Cala Homes has received planning permission for a 280-home development in Beckenham, Bromley, in a rare venture inside the M25 for the housebuilder.
The L&G-owned firm said that permission for the Langley Court development, on a former GSK Healthcare-owned site, followed three years of planning work.
The development will include a 100-bedroom care home and deliver 35% affordable housing in a mix of rented and shared equity tenures. It will feature one to three-bedroom apartments and two to five-bedroom houses.
The firm said the scheme was the first in London for Cala Homes’ southern home counties division and represented a “strategic move”.
Daniel Webber, land director at the division, said: “Development of the site has been a long time coming, and we’re pleased to play an important role in building new homes and amenities that meet the local need, including a broad range of smaller homes that are suitable for younger purchasers, families and downsizers.”
Construction is expected to begin early this year.
