Bromford takes over both housing associations and rebrands as Bromford Flagship
Housing associations Bromford Housing Group and Flagship Housing Group have merged to become Bromford Flagship.
Bromford Housing Group now serves as the group parent under the name Bromford Flagship, while Flagship Housing Group has become Flagship Housing Limited and is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the new body.
Bromford Flagship is aiming to deliver 2,000 homes per year for the next 30 years, with 50% designated for social rent. It said it will also create a place standard to deliver “thriving communities where people want to live.”
A newly formed board of directors and executive team has been confirmed by the organisation, which owns and manages around 80,000 homes across east, central and southwest England.
Bromford had previously managed 47,000 homes and Flagship 33,000.
The deal has been expected to create around £2bn in additional borrowing capacity for the new provider over the next 15 years.

Bromford’s Robert Nettleton has stepped up as chief executive for the entire group.
He said: “The need for affordable homes, the quality of service we provide to customers, and an absolute focus on place has never been more important. The need to unlock additional capacity that enables housing associations to deliver at scale has also never been greater.
“We’re excited about the huge potential this opportunity offers and ultimately the ability to enable more people to thrive.”
Flagship’s former chair, Peter Hawes, will chair the board, while Paul Walsh has been appointed as chief finance officer, continuing in the same position he held at Bromford.
The group is set to launch a learning academy to provide training opportunities for colleagues and customers, and a research and development team to “focus on customer’s priorities and service improvements.”
The restructure also includes the group parent’s Bromford Housing Association and Merlin Housing Society, as well as other existing entities from both organisations.
