The council is inviting firms to register for the four year procurement deal
Brighton & Hove city council has launched its hunt for contractors to apply to join a £40m framework agreement to carry out work across its housing portfolio.
The council said the framework would last four years and require successful firms to carry out major works to its housing stock, which comprises 11,550 rented homes and 2,700 leasehold properties.
Works would include refurbishments of residential blocks, cladding, structural works or activities across entire housing estates.
Major works under lot two would likely be in excess of £500,000 per job, the council added, with lot one featuring work up to £500,000 in value.
Each major works project will be awarded to a contractor on the framework “following a mini-competition process”.
The council said it would be hosting a two-hour market “engagement event” in Brighton on Wednesday 1 May to outline its ambitions for the framework.
It would also provide “the opportunity for the market to comment on the proposed framework structure, form of contract, KPIs, use of apprentices and other key elements in the hope that when the opportunity is advertised it will be attractive to the market, and thus help ensure a successful outcome”, the local authority added.
Firms looking to take part need to register with the council by 4pm on 29 April.
Brighton & Hove has also re-appointed consultants Design South East to continue to provide the DesignPlace independent design review service for local planning officers, developers and project teams.
The council said the service had been “instrumental in evolving high quality, high density housing solutions, making sure effective design is included in local masterplans and creating the best environments for future communities to live, work and play”.
