Housebuilder joins forces with housing association for Cambourne West scheme

Bovis

Bovis has gone in to a joint venture with housing association Metropolitan Thames Valley (MTVH) to build a 783-home development at Cambourne, outside Cambridge.

The Cambourne West scheme, with a development value of £240m, will be made up of 70% private units and 30% affordable housing.

Bovis said it would provide £40m of planning contributions as part of the scheme, paying for the expansion of a secondary school and two new primary schools. Construction is expected to start in February 2020.

The site is close to the new 4,000-home settlement of Cambourne, already built by Taylor Wimpey and Bovis.

John Lougher, strategic land managing director at Bovis Homes, said he was delighted to announce the joint venture with MTVH. He added: “Building by the established new settlement of Cambourne, the area will become a flagship development over the next decade, demonstrating our commitment to housebuilding across the region.”

Richard Evans, development director at the housing association, said: “MTVH is about more than building homes. We also build and invest in people and communities for the long term too.

”This new joint venture with Bovis Homes gives us a fantastic opportunity to do this at scale, ultimately helping more people.”
