Contract will see housebuilder build 465 homes on the outskirts of Gloucester
Bellway’s Welsh operation plans to build nearly 500 homes in Gloucester, subject to planning, after signing its largest-ever land deal.
The housebuilder is drawing up plans to build 465 homes on the 49-acre development in Churchdown, to the east of the city.
Outline planning for the scheme was given in December last year and the housebuilder, which declined to reveal what it paid for the land, said it was putting together a detailed planning application to submit to Tewkesbury borough council.
The proposals are for two, three and four-bedroom houses and a number of one-bedroom apartments.
Bellway said it would be building 102 affordable homes for local people and key workers on the scheme.
It is also planning to spend more than £6m as part of contributions to the local community as part of the planning agreement.
Billie Oaten, sales director for Bellways Wales, said the land deal reflected the firm’s growth in recent years.
“We will be working closely with the local authority to ensure that our proposals meet the needs of local people and hope our detailed plans are approved so we can move forward with construction,” Oaten added.
