Developer buys parcels of land in Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire
Barratt and its subsidiary David Wilson have signed a deal with land regenerator Harworth to buy two parcels of land for £39m.
The developer plans to build about 450 homes, of which more than 30% will be affordable, on a plot at Waverley in South Yorkshire, which costs £29m.
And a plot in Thoresby Vale Nottinghamshire, bought for £10m, is capable of delivering 174 homes.
The homes in Waverley are the fifth phase of the site being built by the developer and will be adjacent to Highwall Park and the Waverley Lake. The South Yorkshire deal represents Harworth’s largest-ever serviced residential land sale by number of plots.
At Thoresby Vale the developer will be delivering the second phase of the development. This follows the sale of two land parcels at the site to Harron Homes and Barratt and David Wilson Homes in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
Mark Cotes, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, said: “We’re thrilled to have secured the land for an extension to our Thoresby Vale development and will look forward to another opportunity to meet the growing demand for housing in Nottinghamshire.”
Andrew Blackshaw, chief operating officer at Harworth, added: “Barratt and David Wilson Homes is a trusted and valued partner to Harworth, and we are pleased to be developing our relationship with these two significant land sales.”
