Pair of schemes will deliver 60 and 300 homes, respectively
Avant Homes have submitted planning applications for two new housing schemes near Coventry and Barnsley.
The housebuilder’s West Midlands business has submitted plans and exchanged contracts on a 4.71-acre site in Allesley, Coventry.
The proposed development, which will be called Allesley Heights, will see a £18.8m, 60-home development delivered, with development set to commence in May if Coventry City Council gives the go ahead.
Meanwhile, firm’s West Yorkshire business has submitted plans for a £66.5m, 300-home multi-tenure development in Thurnscoe, near Barnsley.
It will feature 30 homes designated for affordable housing.
If given the go ahead by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, work at the development is set to commence in May 2025, with the first residents expected to move into their new homes in January 2026.
The housebuilder, which had a turnover of £483m last year according to Housing Today’s list of Top 50 housebuilders, revealed in its annual report last year that it had overstated its assets by £43m when it was acquired by Berkely DeVeer and Elliott Advisors in 2021.
In documents submitted to Companies House by Viva Midco Limited, Avant’s parent company, new directors at the business had “identified material errors” in the reporting period to 30 April 2021 and before that.

That news came weeks after Avant, which is run by former Persimmon boss Jeff Fairburn, had approached rival Crest Nicholson with an offer to merge.
The proposed deal, which was neer realised would have seen Avant merged into Crest Nicholson, which would have retained its Stock Exchange listing with New York Hedge fund Elliott as its largest shareholder.
