Scheme to deliver nearly 180 homes
Avant Homes has been given planning approval for a £41.9m scheme to deliver 179 new homes in Dodworth in South Yorkshire.
The plans, which were approved by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council last Tuesday will deliver one, two, three and four-bedroom homes, of which 40 will be affordable. The work is due to start in August and the first residents are expected to move into their new homes in March next year.
Known as Smithy Wood Gate, the £41.9m development would be built on a greenfield site in an area of historical coal mining activity.

The site falls within junction 37 of the M1. As a result, National Highways placed a ‘holding direction’ on the application for some months, which works to restrict the planning approval.
But after modelling, further surveys and studies took place, National Highways felt satisfied that the road network would not be significantly affected by the scheme and decided to lift the holding direction.
Richard Hosie, managing director at Avant Homes West Yorkshire said: ”The development has mix of properties that will appeal to everyone from first time buyers, to second steppers, families and downsizers.”
