Nigel Wright will be Accent’s board chair from May 2025

Wright will join the 20,000-home social landlord in May and work alongside current chair Tom Miskell before formally taking over the role mid-year.

Wright is a chartered banker and has held senior positions at Virgin Money and Citigroup.

He has also served in several non-executive social housing roles over the last nine years, including head of the board at 12,000-home housing association Progress and director at Birmingham-based landlord Black Country Housing Group.

Miskell, who has headed the board since 2015, will retire this year with over 20 years’ experience in the housing sector, for which he was awarded an OBE in 2017.

He is a former chief executive of 37,000-home landlord Together Housing Group and is the owner and director of consultancy Tom Miskell Ltd.

Nick Apetroaie, Accent’s chief executive, said: “As we begin this transition, I’m thrilled to welcome Nigel Wright as new Chair. His blend of financial expertise, housing governance experience, and customer focus is exactly what we need to take Accent forward. This phased approach ensures we maintain continuity while preparing for the future with strength and clarity.”

He added that Miskell’s leadership has been “instrumental in shaping Accent’s ambition and impact”, saying “Tom has championed strong governance, customer-led thinking, and a strategic mindset that has helped us grow with purpose and confidence.”
