Housing association selected by developer Cubex for Finzels Reach scheme
Bristol-based developer Cubex has signed up housing association Abri to deliver a 66-home affordable housing scheme within the city’s Finzels Reach development.
The Coopers Court scheme, on the site of a former fire station, will include 48 homes for social rent and 18 for shared ownership, and is to be built out by contractor Willmott Dixon.
The homes, scheduled for completion in 2023, make up a fifth of all the houses planned within the second phase of the Finzels Reach project.
The first phase has seen Cubex, backed by funder Fiera Real Estate, build out 440 apartments, a hotel and 240,000 sq ft of office space in the centre of Bristol. The second phase will see construction of nearly 300 homes in total.
The news comes after Hampshire-based Abri, formed from a merger of housing associations Radian and Yarlington in 2020, last week signed up modular manufacturer BoKlok to deliver 750 homes over the next five years.
Elgan Jones, associate director of Cubex, said the deal with Abri marked an “important milestone for us in our journey to transforming this once-derelict city-centre site into a vibrant new quarter, providing high-quality, unique places for people to live, work and socialise”.
